Communion & Christening Photography in Killarney, Kerry
Communion and Christening photography in Killarney and across County Kerry are short, focused sessions lasting around 30 minutes. They are designed to be simple and efficient for what is often a busy family day. These are important family milestones that move quickly, filled with emotion, connection, and small moments that are easy to miss.
The session includes a mix of traditional family portraits for grandparents and more natural, candid photography to capture real smiles and genuine interaction. I gently guide when needed to ensure we get those key family group images, while also allowing space for relaxed, natural moments.
Children are kept comfortable throughout, with no pressure to sit perfectly or “perform.” I work in a light, easy way so the experience feels easy-going, especially for little ones.
The result is a collection of timeless Communion or Christening photographs that feel both classic and natural, without adding pressure to an already full day.
These occasions often carry a mix of excitement, nerves and pride. And it’s usually the quieter moments — a hand held a little tighter, a proud glance, a small smile in between everything — that become the most meaningful over time.
Simple, honest memories of a day worth remembering gently.
“These are the moments you think you’ll always remember… until one day, you’re so glad you don’t have to.”
Communion and Christening Session
What to expect
Your Communion or Christening photography session in Killarney and across County Kerry is designed to feel calm, natural, and easy from start to finish. These are important family milestones, and the focus is on capturing the day as it happens, without anything feeling staged or rushed.
The session lasts around 30 minutes, which keeps things simple and manageable on a busy day. If a little extra time is needed, this can always be arranged in a flexible way.
Before the session, we plan the timing around your schedule — whether that’s before the ceremony, after, or a combination of both. I’ll guide you through what works best so everything runs smoothly on the day.
During the session, I work in a relaxed and unobtrusive way. I include a mix of traditional family portraits — perfect for grandparents and keepsake images — along with a candid, easy-going approach to capture real smiles, connection, and natural interaction.
There’s always time built in, so nothing feels rushed, especially for children who may be tired or overwhelmed after a big day.
1–2 weeks after your session, your images are carefully edited in a natural, timeless style and delivered in a private online gallery.
These photographs become more than just images from a ceremony. They become part of your family story, capturing a once-in-a-lifetime day in a way that can be remembered for years to come.
How to Book
Get in touch and share a little about what you’d love from your session. If it feels like the right fit, we’ll choose a suitable date and get everything booked in for you.
We’ll meet at your chosen location or in the comfort of your home. The session is easy-going and natural, with gentle guidance from me while I capture genuine moments as they happen. Sessions usually last from 30 minutes, and newborn sessions last 1.5 hours.
After your session, I carefully edit your best images. Editing takes about 1-2 weeks. Then I will upload to a private online gallery for you to view.
You’ll receive your edited online gallery, where you can view the best images from your session. Depending on the collection you choose, you’ll be able to download your included images, with the option to purchase additional digital files or printed products if you’d like to.

Important note about extended family
These sessions are designed primarily around the immediate family and the child’s Communion or Christening. Extended family members are very welcome to attend and be part of the day; the main focus of the photography remains with the booking family.
If extended family group photographs are requested, these are captured as a separate set of images alongside your main session. Should additional time be required to accommodate larger group combinations, this can be arranged in advance and will be charged accordingly, as it extends beyond the standard session structure.
Want more?
If you’d like additional images, you can upgrade your collection or add extra digital files, prints, albums or framed products. Options are available once you’ve viewed your gallery.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if my child is tired or overwhelmed?
That’s completely normal, especially after a big morning. I take things slowly, keep it light, and never push. Often, the quieter, in-between moments end up being the most meaningful anyway.
What time of day is best for photos?
The best time usually depends on your ceremony and schedule. Many families choose to have photos taken just before or after the church service. I’ll help you plan a time that works smoothly with your day while still giving you the best light possible.
Do you help with posing during the session?
Absolutely. I’ll gently guide you when needed so you don’t have to worry about what to do. At the same time, I leave space for natural moments to happen, which is where the most meaningful images come from.
How do we book a Communion or Christening session?
Booking is simple. Just get in touch as soon as possible, as session availability is limited. You can get in contact through my contact form, and I’ll guide you through the next steps, check availability, and secure your date.
